What Am I doing? And Why am I doing it????
I am a conservative Christian who deeply loves my country the way our Founding Fathers created it. I think the recent Healthcare Bill has a horrifying provision for funding abortions with tax payer money.... one side says, no; the other: yes. The only way to find out is to read it myself. There are other accusations that need checking, too. So, at 7 pages a day, we should be through this bill in a year! Hopefully it will be faster (the 'pages' are only a few paragraphs each)
I intend to just report and let the facts speak for themselves. Please let me know if I overstep and let some of my bias affect my work.
We begin with recognizing that the Healthcare Bill started in the House of Representatives last summer.... passed the House on Dec. 24th. The Senate passed the Bill in March. From there it is customary to have a joint committee 'reconcile' the two bills into one bill to send to the president for signing into law.
This was done recently. I discovered that it is a series of amendments changing and replacing sections of the Senate Bill. Which means I will go back to the Senate Bill (HR 3590)and start my way through and refer to the Reconciliation Bill (HR 4872) when necessary.
Well, this is getting long.... I guess tomorrow we start!
